Welcome to the Biblical Guidance of Antioch Baptist Church – where we seek to offer Biblically based, Christ centered pastoral/lay counseling, addressing many common issues of life.  The Biblical Guidance Ministry team consists of staff ministers (pastoral counselors) and trained volunteer lay persons (lay-counselors) who have been called into the helping ministry.

 

Qualifications of your pastoral/lay counselor:  Because of the Biblical and spiritual nature of this type ministry we train our own staff for the ministry of pastoral/lay counseling.  The pastoral/lay counseling team has been selected and trained or is completing their training in our lay counseling training program or in another approved training program.  The volunteer lay-counselors do not process professional licenses or certifications issued by the State of North Carolina for the practice of professional counseling, marriage and family therapy, or social work specialties nor do they necessarily possess the required education, experience or training for such licenses.  Finally, this ministry does not claim to meet any counseling requirements for court/probation/parole mandated counseling, nor do we render any financial, legal or medical opinions or advice.

 

Supervision by staff counselors:  Your volunteer pastoral/lay-counselor works under the supervision of Sr. Pastor, Mark Meadows, Director of the Biblical Guidance Ministry and Counseling Associate, Mr. Jerry Goforth, LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor).

 

Our Approach:  The Biblical Guidance Ministry employs a method of lay counseling, utilizing spiritual/Biblical principles.  In this kind of discipleship process the Holy Spirit, not the pastoral/lay counselor is the agent of individual change – provided one cooperates with Him.  Our goal is to present God’s plan for victory in the midst of one’s circumstances by utilizing prayer, and spiritual/Biblical principles.
